Star chef of Britain and the owner of the chain restaurant Jamie Oliver’s restaurant chain got into some serious trouble, after a long span of financial trouble it went into administration on 21st of May. There was a total of 25 restaurants which are part of the Jamie Oliver’s chain, out of which 22 has stopped working from Tuesday onwards, Jamie Oliver officially informed about this in twitter by tweeting that he is shattered after the collapse of his loving restaurant chain. Also, he thanked all the staff people and concerned supplier of the business and appreciated their work in his tweet. The collapse will cause an immediate effect to the employees of the restaurant as there will be around thousands of employee who will be jobless due to this. There are over 1300 employees working with the business as per the records. There left only three branches out of the total 25 which are not going to be stopped working. Along with Jamie Oliver’s Diner, there are two branches at Gatwick airport which will continue its operation after the collapse.

Reason behind collapse

A journey that started over a decade ago has a shocking end that leaves their employee helpless. It was in 2017 when some of the Italian dining restaurants was got troubled. Along with the HSBC, loan Jamie has invested around 13 million pounds to save his empire. despite this, he was not able to save 12 of the restaurant which got shuttered last year and pulled down the total count to 25 from 37. Despite putting great effort since last two and half year, Jamie could not manage to save his dream empire and it got bankrupt.

Background of Jamie Oliver’s chain

  • Jamie Oliver Italian restaurant chain was started in 2008 by the famous British chef  Jamie Oliver. It got listed as one of the best mid-range dine option in the UK and started growing rapidly.
  • It got famous at a very early stage because of the fame of Mr Jamie Oliver, who was already a popular name in the UK because of his TV shows and books. His published recipe in books and shows got admired by a lot of his audiences. He was also famous because of his campaigning about healthy meals in many of the UK’s schools.

Some other Big names in the list

There are many more restaurant chains of the UK, which got affected in the last few years and ended up like this one. Patisserie Valerie Cafe chain was collapsed where 70 of its branch were closed causing the loss of thousands of jobs. Though they were able to save 96 of them. Byron Burger, Carluccio and Prezzo are some of the big names which had not done well and struggled in the last few years.

Definitely, it is not a piece of good news for the other mid-range dine in the UK. There is huge competition in this sector and business needs to keep themselves updated with the latest trends to keep growing.
