The British Steel Making has been going through a lot over these few decades, the reason mainly being economical trends and changes. The reason for the stumbling steel industry in the United Kingdom is to be analyzed. There are blames put on various aspects, mainly the unresolved Brexit issue or the Greybull capital, which is having some past calamities, which in turn has affected the steelmaking industry.
The Limitations Of the Measures Taken For the Steel Industry:
The government took an important decision and introduced a new steel charter, which was a kind of an undertaking to increase the amount of steel which was generally used in the infrastructural development in the United Kingdom. An immediate contradiction was made that this decision shouldn’t be given importance when there is a whole situation of threat which needs to be handled before so that thousands of job losses can be prevented. The measure which the Government has taken in due course of time has repeatedly failed because of some of the other reasons. Now, these limitations are the ones who are the villains working against the success of a very important industry.
Other important factors in the downfall:
Some issues which came out in the front like Brexit issue is one which is repeatedly looked upon. According to this if the UK left the European Union, it would be landed with a huge amount of taxes which in turn would bring the country and its steel industry to a huge crisis and that would affect the steel industry at a very large scale.
One other issue was the Greybull’s failure to do the promised things. The company when bought the British Steel Industry from the Tata Steels for I million euro, the company gave a lot of expectations regarding the success and transformation of the steel industry of the British, but the company failed to do so. The main reason for the failure was the loss the company suffered from the investment it made in Monarch Airlines, which was a total failure.
How bad the steel industry got affected due to these recurring crises:
Due to the repeated issues which kept on taking place in the UK, the steel industry has had huge losses which have resulted in the decline in the income from this sector and has also affected the country’s economy. There has been a big decline in the number of employees the British steelmaking had in big numbers. The steel industry is one which supports a lot of people and their incomes and has the potential to contribute a lot in the economy of the country.
Moreover, this industry was one such which offered high paid jobs, and a blow to such industry is not a normal thing at all. One more effect of the decline in the steel industry was when many of the top-rated industries were shut down due to a variety of reasons which in turn had a large impact on the employment.
