Cemeren Yilmaz,16, was murdered and filmed on Snapchat. The four gang members accused in the murder of Cemeren were found guilty and jailed.
The teenager was videotaped as he was lying down on his deathbed after being brutally stabbed and later beat up with a hammer, here in Bedford, last year in September.
The Crown Court of St. Albans sentenced the 4 gang members for a lifetime imprisonment. The 4 culprits are-
- Aaron Miller aged 20
- Ramon Djuana aged 15
- Jacob Morgan aged 15
- Caleb Brown aged 16
The accused were sentenced in April in the Crown Court.
The court came to know that the reason for the murder was because of the connection of Miller with the rival gang, ‘London Road’. Brown, Morgan and Djuana were elite members of a gang named ‘Black Tom’.
The Judge hearing the case, Justice Bryan QC stated that the situation arose because of the common backdrops of gang rivalries and carrying and usage of weapons. During the trial, the prosecutor Stuart Trimmer QC presented a fact to the court that these types of cases are either shocking or grotesque.
The teenager, aka Gem, informed his brother that he was expecting an attack by the rivals due to the hostile tensions prevailing between the gangs.
On 16th September, Yilmaz
travelled his residence in Harrold to Bedford. There he was further chased down
by two of the gang members. There, he was punched brutally by them.
He fell helplessly while still being beaten by those two boys. Moments later, he
fell and was stabbed right through the kidney, with a big knife.
And if this wasn’t enough, the other
two members came in and joined in this gruesome act. They came in and started
hitting him, accompanying the other two. They bashed his face and head with the
help of a hammer, and one of them started filming the horrific act on his phone
and posted it on a social networking app, Snapchat. The gang members took out
all their rage and anger of the ongoing gang wars on poor Cemeren. The move of
the recording and posting the video on the internet clearly shows the extent to
which these boys are brainwashed to represent and protect their cult or gang.
As if murdering a boy was not enough for them to prove some sort of loyalty to
their gang, these guys dared to record it and post it online.
After being left there to die at Ashmead Road, Cemeren succumbed to his injuries the very next day. He was operated to remove the damaged kidney and had suffered internal injuries, brain damage, fractured skull and even two cardiac attacks.
Brown, of Middlesex and Djuana, of
Bedford have been sentenced to at least 17 years behind bars.
A sentence of at least 16 years was decided for Morgan, of Bedford and 21 years
of imprisonment was decided for Miller, a resident of Tavistock Street,
Bedford. Further sources confirmed that Miller was not part of the gang but had
been called upon by Jacob, his cousin, to the spot of the crime.
