With the elections in Europe being held on 23rd May 2019, the 13 parties standing at the elections are anxious about the results. The Brexit party, although is estimated to win the elections with majority seats in the European states. Although, even after knowing the estimated results, is determined to win some of the cities of Europe. During a talk with The Independent, Allen confirmed she’s sweaty about the results as hers is a remain party, but says she’s not bothered about the results as much as she’s concerned about the National interest.
Remain Parties Wish To Secure One More Vote To Gain Votes Against The Brexit
Heidi Allen, the acting leader of Change UK, a remaining party wants to propose the system of one more vote for remain parties which would result in remain parties gaining more votes against the combination of both, The Brexit and Ukip. Though, it shows her nervousness about losing the elections in the European Union. But according to the sources, this wouldn’t make a difference considering the 2016 elections when one more vote didn’t stop the winning party from winning.
Liberal Democrats Lashes Out At Remain Party For Wasting The Remain Ticket
Since Allen resigned from The Conservatives, it was speculated that her independent party might form a change, but the results seem to differ from expectations. Allen seems to ‘sweat’ over the splitting of remain vote by a new party on 23rd May elections. She said she was anyway happy and convinced that the ones who oppose The Brexit and Liberal Democrats due to Alliance with The conservatives may ensure their vote to Change UK. Liberal Democrats, however, suggest that the remaining party had failed to cooperate and wasted its appeal of the remaining ticket. Change is struggling to achieve at least 5% of the European election.
Despite The Poor Numbers, Allen Thinks Her Party Would Make A Change As A Remaining Party
When asked about the poor numbers of the Change, Allen asked to wait for the results first. She accepts the fact that her party had no intention of winning seats all over the country and. She is convinced that her party has a chance to win some regions of south-eastern part and London specifically, with Gavin Esler standing in these areas. Due to an unusual voting system, smaller and remain parties would’ve gained more representation, but still, the system of the split vote makes are anxious.
She says her main aim in politics is to maintain the national first. For her, national interest is more important than winning. She further says that her job is not as important as the nation. She met some voters who she thinks won’t vote for Lib Dem due to their record in the alliance. She says it is surely about MEP seats, but also about remain party versus Brexit. According to Allen, remain party puts light on the fact that a nation can be run differently and more effectively as some people won’t vote for Green or Lib Dem and that’s what makes this party push remain vote.
Therefore, even after certain loopholes, Allen thinks that only one more vote would do success for her against Brexit and Ukip.
