HURGHADA, Egypt: The Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh took a starring role in Rixos Hotels Egypt’s biggest awards night of the year, as the group carried home seven titles from the World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony 2026. The ceremony was staged in Zanzibar, Tanzania, on 28 August 2026, drawing the continent’s leading hospitality names.
Two of the seven wins were claimed by properties in Sharm El Sheikh, underlining the destination’s growing pull among discerning travellers. Rixos Sharm El Sheikh Adults Only 18+ was named Egypt’s Leading All-Inclusive Resort, while the Premium Villa @ Club Prive by Rixos Sharm El Sheikh secured the title of Egypt’s Leading Luxury Hotel Villa. Together they anchored a haul that spans the Rixos portfolio across Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada and Alexandria.
A clean sweep across the Egypt portfolio
The remaining honours were distributed among the brand’s Hurghada and Alexandria addresses, alongside a standout recognition for its water park attraction. Family travel, beach breaks, heritage stays and all-round resort experiences were each singled out by the judges, reflecting the range of stays the group offers along the coast and beyond.
